If how AI is being used today is any indication of the future, it is needless to say that it will influence our lives even more so in the future. For better or worse, the possibilities of AI are limitless.

Today, AI is hugely integrated in all aspects of our day-to-day lives. From chatbots, online shopping, smartphones, social networking to ride sharing - AI is being applied in everyday apps that we use. The huge amounts of data that all these apps are gathering about our likes and dislikes, our searches, our purchases, our movements and almost every aspect of our lives, is contributing further to advancement in AI. All this data is being used to train and fine-tune these AI and ML algorithms to learn and predict what we want with even more accuracy.

Here's a glimpse of what AI's future looks like in some key areas of our lives:

  1. Healthcare

AI has already being applied in healthcare with the use of chatbots to provide real time assistance to patients and to predict ICU transfers or patient risks. It has huge potential to transform how we administer healthcare in the future. AI algorithms will enable healthcare providers to analyze data and tailor healthcare to each patient. ML algorithms will keep learning as they interact with training data, to provide precise and accurate clinical decisions with respect to patient diagnostics, treatment and care, and predict patient outcomes.

2. Transportation

In the filed of transportation, one area where AI will continue to make improvements is self-driving vehicles. Google and Tesla have already launched autonomous cars. Driverless trains are already in use in Europe and we are building autonomous air and sea vehicles.

Autonomous space vehicles will help protect human life, and reach farther. They will be able to operate in space for longer periods of time and accomplish more.

Unmanned sea vehicles will allow us to explore the ocean, conduct missions for research and to gather data for intelligence.

Unmanned autonomous vehicles will allow us to go where humans cannot go or its not safe for them, and do things that traditional vehicles cannot.

3. Cyber Security

Machine learning and AI will be used to predict and identify cyber security threats to mitigate security breaches . In 2020, during the pandemic, cyber security attacks increased by 600%, to target people working from home on less secure Wi-Fi networks. AI algorithms can process large amounts of data to predict and identify fraud in the financial and tech worlds.

4. E-Commerce

AI is already playing a big role in how e-commerce is evolving. We can expect that this area will continue to be impacted by AI, through the use of chatbots, targeted advertising, and shopping personalized to individuals. AI algorithms will be used in user experience, advertising and marketing, customer service and inventory.

5. Replacing Human Tasks

Repetitive and physical jobs - for eg: tasks like assembly, stacking, and dispatching in the manufacturing industry or household jobs like mowing lawns, painting, washing windows etc. could easily be outsourced to AI based tools.

AI assistants could be used to perform dangerous jobs that risk human life like firefighting, mining, handling of dangerous chemical or radioactive materials.

On a more personal level, AI tools can help with senior care, patient care, accessible care, allowing people needing assistance to sustain themselves with minimal outside help.

6. Education

With the help of AI, we can digitize textbooks, provide digital lessons and have 24/7 learning support for students. We can use facial analysis to study and analyze student reactions and improve experience by adapting the program to the individual needs of students. Some administrative tasks like grading, assessing work and providing feedback can be automated using AI. This will save time for the teachers allowing them to focus on other important tasks that improve the quality of education.

In summary. AI offers many benefits to the human race. As we continue to explore AI and its impact and influence in every sphere of our lives increases, a key consideration will be to ensure that while we maximize the benefits of AI, we also understand and mitigate risks.
